All smiles for Radiokop motorist as incorrect tickets are cancelled

"I feel good that it was cancelled, but I hope other people will also not just accept incorrect tickets to get the authorities to step up their quality of work."

Johan Storm from Radiokop is one of many motorists who claim to have received notices erroneously for reasons such as driving over the speed limit.

Johan was discontented over a traffic fine he believed was imposed on him unjustly in terms of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act 46 of 1998 (AARTO).

After contacting the Northsider in December, comment was requested from Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Wayne Minnaar who suggested that the motorist made a representation online.

Johan’s application was successful and the two speed fines for his two vehicles imposed on him incorrectly last year as registered on a radar device were cancelled.

“After completing the forms and submitting them on the AARTO site of which the details were provided to me by the Northsider, the first ticket for my Suzuki was indicated as cancelled. They have not communicated anything, because it was clear that my information was correct. I feel good that it was cancelled, but I hope other people will also not just accept incorrect tickets to get the authorities to step up their quality of work. I want to encourage other people to also use this AARTO process,” said Johan.
