Residents clean up their area

Ruimsig residents were up and at ‘em for an early-morning neighbourhood clean-up.

Ruimsig residents were up and at ‘em on Saturday, January 22 for an early-morning neighbourhood clean-up. Armed with lawnmowers and weed whackers at 06:00 the residents took matters into their own hands and tidied up their surroundings.

“We cleaned on the corner of Peter Road and Van Dalen Road North, as well as the bottom end of Van Dalen Road North. Someone had volunteered the use of their bakkie to go to the dumping site,” Martin van der Westhuizen said. “The aim was to cut the grass, trim the trees, pick up litter, remove illegal advertising, and move the bins that obstructed our view into Peter Road.”

Volunteers were asked to bring their own gloves, black bags, rakes and pruners, sun hat and water.
