Mrs Universe Africa semi-finalist talks about improving the lives of others

Semi-finalist in the Mrs Universe Africa 2022 pageant Keke Moeca has taken on an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre assisting teenage mothers in Tembisa for which she would like to raise funds, books, clothing and anything that could contribute towards assisting the centre.
The Weltevreden Park modern family, business and career woman would also like to extend an invitation to the community to assist when she does a drop-off at the end of February.
Keke was part of the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa 2020 pageant and continues her journey to be the best version of herself through the Mrs Universe Africa 2022 pageant.
“I entered the Mrs Universe Africa pageant to go back into cultivating that winning attitude that comes from learning through doing, and working as a unit to give back to our communities.
“I’ve already began working on myself, and I feel the platform will give me the opportunity to amplify the important work we as a collective are yet to do, as well as give me a louder voice to reach women and communities that I otherwise would not be able to reach,” said Keke.
Keke told the Northsider that with this participation in the pageant, she has pledged to assist the Home of Dreams Early Learning Centre in Tembisa.
The centre is a self-funded non-profit organisation founded by Phumzile Beauty Molefe whose dream of starting an early learning centre was born out of the need to make a difference in young children’s lives through education.
Home of Dreams employs young mothers who found themselves in a similar situation and are eager to make a difference whilst improving their own lives.
The young women were funded by the founder to attain their teacher’s attendance certificates through Cuddle Trust, a non-profit organisation that focuses on training ECD teachers in disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.
“We seek for fundraising opportunities not only to better the teachers but also to improve the environment and ensure sufficient learning aids for the young ones.
“This fuels my purpose and I need to pay it forward using my skills, collaborating with others, and sharing information,” said Keke.
She recently did some training in Pretoria and Rustenburg on DIY E-commerce, social media management and photography for small businesses in collaboration with the Turkish Development Agency (TIKA) that seeks to empower small women-owed business on the continent of Africa by assisting them to scale their businesses.
Keke is a full-time graphic designer employed in the finance space; entrepreneur in the fashion industry working with handmade leather products; and recently she added women’s fashion to the list.
