How to become a Honeydew CPF patroller
To become a patroller one needs to reside within the Honeydew Policing Precinct, and get clearance from the police, which the CPF arranges.
Over the past few weeks the Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) has had many people asking how they can get involved with the patrollers.
According to Honeydew CPF PRO Michael Steyn, the answer is actually very simple, but before he tells you about the process, he would like to tell you a little more about the CPF and what is expected of a patroller.
The Honeydew CPF has a Volunteer Patroller programme that currently has a team of around 90 members covering the entire Sectors 1, 2 and 3.
The team gets together on pre-selected nights and do patrols within the community they live in.

“One has to be committed to joining the team for at least one shift a month, but because we are such nice people you will be there every shift.
“Having your own transport is definitely an advantage, but remember you will never drive by yourself.
“We will always make sure you are teamed up with a more experienced member till you know the ropes. After that you will always drive with a minimum of two people per car,” said Michael.
Members of the community who are interested in joining the patrollers are advised to send a WhatsApp to the head of the patrollers, Jon Rosenberg on 082 450 2305.
“Come and take a drive with us for one night and see what it’s about; young and old, ladies or gents, you are all welcome,” said Michael.
