The Georginia Street based club hosted a new year’s breakfast run to reinvigorate the energy levels. Up fresh and early for the 06:00 start, runners took on either the 5km or 10km as the club’s red bibs bobbed through the suburban streets. Old, new and prospective members came out for the club’s first early morning sweat, followed by a boerewors roll and their preferred post-jog refreshment.

The open event was used to plot the club’s way forward into 2022, and brainstorm ways to get social or serious runners to make the best of their running club membership. Being an active member of a running club exposes an athlete to new training ideas, a motivational atmosphere and the opportunity to lean on the experience of other seasoned runners. Roodies committee member, Conrad de Buys encouraged members, saying, “At the end of the day it is you that makes the club by bringing any new ideas forward in whatever form it might be, for you as a member to benefit from”.
