Biker hangout puts on display of magnificent motorcycle mastery
Luzet Otto and The Hangover Pub host show and shine event
Enjoy the sights and sounds of pumping pistons, proud patches and leather-clad legends.
No biker hangout is ever complete without the occasional display of the beautiful machines that bellow out the rolling thunder. The Hangover Pub was packed with members of multiple motorcycle clubs for a show and shine competition on February 5. The glistening two-wheeled machines filled the rear courtyard while a few four-wheeled classics welcomed guests at the Geoffrey Street entrance.

Sponsored by Evil Performance, Autozone, Boostfreaks, Spares INC, John’s Mega Paints and Trickbitz, the show and shine event featured multiple categories that acknowledged aesthetic appeal as well as brute force. Boebie Jubber from Nemos for Jesus won Best Standard Bike with his Honda CB250, while Gert Krog from Naughty by Nature won highest horsepower above 1000cc with his Kawasaki ZX1400.

In other categories, Christiaan Beyers from Naughty by Nature won best custom bike with his ZX1400 Kawasaki, and for a bike under the 1000cc threshold, Neville Lombaard, owner of Evil Performance, won highest horsepower with his 1000cc Bandit. Dawie Lotter from Macs was the standout winner, winning best bike overall with his 1300 Hayabusa, as well as winning best chopper of the day.

Luzet Otto opened The Hangover in the middle of 2021, a gamble that paid off judging by the festive comradery around the establishment. A long-standing member of the biker community, Luzet has succeeded in creating a neutral haven for the biker family to enjoy, saying, “The people are good, the food is outstanding and the drinks are cheapest on the West Rand”.
