One man killed in accident on Giant’s Castle Avenue
Another man seriously injured in Tuesday afternoon incident
One man was killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on April 19.
The men were travelling in a red and white hatchback along Giant’s Castle Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Paramedics arrived on scene shortly after 13:30 to find the vehicle had rolled and crashed into a tree, with one man lying away from the wreckage and another trapped inside the cabin.

Sadly, the man who was flung from the vehicle showed no signs of life and was declared dead on scene.
“The man trapped inside the vehicle was in a serious condition. Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free him. Once released, the man was treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care,” confirmed ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department officers attended the scene and the incident is currently under investigation.
