Fatal motorcycle accident on Ouklip Road leaves one dead

On Saturday, May 7 at about 18:30 Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Accident Unit attended the scene of a fatal collision on Ouklip Road and Kannabos Street in Roodekrans.

It’s alleged that a white Toyota Corolla was turning right from Kannabos Street into Ouklip Road when it collided with a black Suzuki motorcycle that was travelling west on Ouklip Road.

The man fell off the motorcycle, which collided with a nearby wall. Sadly he sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

The male driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained no injuries while the female motorcycle passenger sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Netcare Milpark Hospital.

JMPD pokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed to the Record that a case of culpable homicide had been opened at the Roodepoort Police station for further investigations.

An eyewitness and one of the first people to arrive at the scene was Wouter Steyn from First Help towing who told the Record that he and some residents started praying for the female passenger’s life.
