Formed in 2012, LIFCO has been looking after the interests of residents living in the picturesque streets nestled at the foot of the cliffs, bordered by Hendrik Potgieter Road, Clearwater Mall and Little Falls Pleasure Resort.

Committee member Claire Fauchet opened the meeting by sharing her vision for a suburb that embodied the meaning of ubuntu. Further formalities were followed before chairperson Hennie Schreuder recapped projects completed in recent years. When sharing 2022’s goals, the beautification of the parks, suburb access points and greenbelts were top of the list along with the rehabilitation of the dam wall.

“If not maintained these areas will have a detrimental effect on the security in the suburbs,” said Hennie.

One of the defining treasures of the suburb is the lake area where the AGM was held. The park was once an overgrown eyesore but residents have worked tirelessly to restore it to a pristine community space.

“I cannot compliment the lake’s team enough. They have been responsible for rehabilitating this area whereby it is now available for the residents to utilise in a clean and secure environment,” Hennie said, encouraging residents to join the clean-up team every Saturday morning.

The success of LIFCO is dependent on community involvement and registered members. Together, members make a daily difference for all residents who are able to enjoy a safe and clean suburb, a community with reduced crime and an all-round lifestyle that promotes prosperity. Hennie encouraged all non-member residents to join so as to be part of a network for community upliftment.

All committee functions are voluntary and are done by residents putting their neighbours first. LIFCO has several subcommittees and is encouraging those living in the area who want to be proactive to get involved.

Subcommittees include several facets such as security, marketing, communication, projects and community mobilisation, giving everyone with an untapped skill a chance to be part of the team.
