Greenbelt op a step in the right direction
Eight undocumented immigrants were arrested during the operation and seven displaced people were removed to social development shelters.
An early-morning green-belt operation took place on Tuesday, June 14 in Ward 134. CRUM Social Development Region C, JMPD, SAPS and private security companies were involved in the operation.

“This was a daily crime-prevention operation to reduce contact crimes in and around the area,” elaborated Captain Balan Muthan of the Honeydew Police Station.

Rhe focus on this operation was to check displaced people who were sleeping in the green belt around the area of Beyers Naudé Drive. Eight undocumented immigrants were arrested during the operation and seven displaced people were removed to social development shelters.

“From a CPF point of view we can only thank all entities that came together with the first of hopefully many green-belt operations. This is a point that has been raised at multiple CPF Sector and Executive meetings over the past few months, and seeing the results is positive,” added Michael Steyn, PRO of the Honeydew Community Policing Forum.
