Business networking to boost small enterprises

Times are tough and that's why small and medium businesses have to support each other now more than ever.

On Thursday, July 7 local business, Mejeri Cheese Wholesale and Coffee Shop hosted another successful Business Network session which welcomed a promising total of 15 different businesses.

This network was established in March and has been growing stronger ever since. According to Mejeri founder and organiser, Adele Close the network is a community initiative to bring small and medium businesses together.

“Over the past few years the pandemic has forced businesses and individuals to go outside their own comfort zone, find business and make an income. These are tough times and we, as a team have come to realise that we need to help where we can,” she said.

“That’s why we started hosting networking mornings and do not charge money for attendance. This is a free service we want to provide to our local community to enable them to show their wares and advertise their businesses. We support buying local and in this, we hope to introduce more of our own community’s products to others.”

These sessions are hosted within the first week of every month at Mejeri which is located at 19 Nickel Street. During such a gathering the owners of small and medium businesses from different industries are presented with the opportunity to connect and to provide a 60-seconds presentation to showcase their service or product.

At no extra cost, vendors are allowed to sell their product on the network day, which has also proven to result in positive feedback.

“We encourage interaction between enterprises and therefore offer free Wi-Fi for the first hour of the session. We would thus like to invite all small and medium enterprises to join us at our coffee shop for face-to-face networking and private meetings afterwards,” Adele said.
