Local police honour Madiba

The project was coordinated in conjunction with Angie Arujuna from the Roodepoort Police Women's Network.

On Monday, July 18 the Roodepoort Police Station was buzzing with chatter and excitement in commemoration of the legacy himself, Nelson Mandela.

During the event Social Crime Prevention, Corporate Communication, Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Gift of the Givers Foundation and Youth Brigadiers gave their 67 minutes when they gathered for a special Madiba Day celebration.

According to Roodepoort police Corporate Communication officer, Captain Juanita-Anne Yorke over 40 underprivileged families received food and health parcels that were kindly donated by Gift of the Givers.

The parcels included items such as tea, sugar, coffee, beans, pasta, maize meal, brown onion soup, salt, pilchards, peanut butter, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush and deodorant to name a few.

This project was coordinated in conjunction with Angie Arujuna from the Roodepoort Police Women’s Network.

In conclusion, Captain Yorke emphasised the following quote by Madiba: “Our world is not divided by race, colour, gender or religion. Our world in divided into wise people and fools, and fools divide themselves by race, colour, gender or religion.”
