City Power aware of widespread outage stretching from Weltevreden Park to Ruimsig

Two substations and six switching stations affected by outage

City Power has issued a notice confirming that they were aware of a widespread outage across the northern suburbs of Roodepoort.

The city’s power utility has dispatched teams to investigate the cause of the outages and will plan restorations based on their findings.

The substations that are off include:
* Peter Road Substation
* Christiaan de Wet Substation
* Ruimsig Switching Station
* Florin Road Switching Station
* Panorama Switching Station
* JG Strydom Switching Station
* Boothill Switching Station
* Ridge Road Switching Station

“The cause of the outage is not yet known and we will update customers on councillors’ WhatsApp groups and even on our Twitter @CityPowerJHB as and when information becomes available,” advised City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, noting that the protests in the Roodepoort CBD would not hamper restoration of these specific outages.
