A safe day at school begins and ends in the streets around the premises.
Arthur Matthews Primary School relaunched their scholar patrol this year for the first time since the global health panic. Arthur Matthews has roughly 1 300 learners streaming through the morning traffic, so to help keep their fellow learners that much safer, Steers Fishaways Goldman Crossing donated a full scholar patrol kit to the school.

As part of a Famous Brands drive to promote school safety, Mobeen Abbass identified the Arthur Matthews learners as a group of volunteer safety officials who could use some help.
“I always see kids from all schools running across the road so I jumped at the opportunity to help,” said Mobeen, who himself was part of the scholar patrol in primary school.
Saul Thomas, Justice Louw and Gavin Jacobs are the dedicated school safety team and permanent adult supervision for the scholar patrol. The scholar patrol consists of 25 learners split into revolving five-learner teams stationed at intersections before and after school with all volunteers consisting of learners who either get to school early or live within walking distance of the school.

As well as being handed brand new branded reflective jackets, caps and whistles the scholar patrol team received complementary burgers to fill their stomachs before the next shift.
