Welridge Academy’s grade sevens tested their entrepreneurial might on September 1.

The Spring Day-themed market day dared young moneymakers to test economic forces to maximise the takings. As part of their Economic and Management Sciences project, learners need to find a source of credit to purchase their stock, use their own labour to craft their products, and after the tills closed, would have to do a stock take to evaluate the day’s success.

The rest of the school served as the customers while parents doubled as additional staff, delivery transportation and tax auditors. Well-packaged food offerings have a high return on investment and the courtyard resembled an exotic hub that spoiled customers for choice.
