This charity evening was organised to raise vital funds for visually impaired bowlers and for the upcoming National Disability Bowls Tournament, scheduled to take place from April 5 to 12 under the auspices of the Johannesburg Bowls Association.

These funds will also assist in next year’s nationals that will take place in the Western Cape and will assist the bowlers in paying for accommodation, plane tickets, meals, and other needs.

The night brought together art enthusiasts, wine lovers and supporters of disability sports for an unforgettable night of creativity, camaraderie, and giving back. The painters were each given a canvas on a wooden easel, paint, brushes, and water, and they were tasked with painting a park with a lonely bench in the area.

According to Stephanie Watkins, a member of VIBSA, they are very grateful to some of their friends, families, and sponsors for their continued support in assisting them however they can to raise funds and awareness of this sport.

“Everyone had so much fun and provided their own unique take on painting the scene. The outcome was very interesting. We had the most delicious food that was prepared by the Florida North Bowling Club.

“Thanks to all the organisers for making the evening a smashing success,” she said.
