Community marches to Florida Police Station demanding justice for Jayden-Lee
The march demands action, justice, increased police visibility, and accountability following the tragic death of the 11-year-old boy.
Community members from Fleurhof and surrounding areas marched to the Florida Police Station today, May 17, demanding justice for 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek.

Carrying a memorandum of understanding, the emotional march aimed to demand action, justice, enhanced police visibility, and additional patrol vehicles in Fleurhof.
Major General Nonhlanhla Kubheka, the District Police Commissioner for West Rand, addressed the community, stating that forensic investigations were in advanced stages. She assured them that suspects linked to Meek’s death would be arrested.

Meek’s body was discovered in front of his mother’s unit at the Swazi’s Place complex on May 14, sparking grief and outrage in the community.
Meek had been reported missing on May 13 after being dropped off outside the complex.
Initial reports suggest that his body showed signs of bruising, indicating possible strangulation and assault.

Police have opened an inquest to determine the circumstances surrounding his death and have deployed a K9 unit for further investigation.
