Automotive business gives back to the community

In addition to the skills development programme, the team also hosts a feeding scheme every weekday.

To give back to the community, Florida Panel Beaters has been equipping 16 youngsters with first-hand experience in the automotive repair industry free of charge.

Under the guidance of experienced mentors and retired industry experts, these young individuals are learning a range of skills, including polishing, body shop assistance, painting, stripping and assembling, colour mixing, admin, and primer application.

According to the owner, Nicolette Tibbetts, this initiative aims to empower young individuals with valuable skills, setting them up for a brighter future.

“We are allowing the youngsters to gain valuable skills that would get them into the industry,” she said, stating that the end goal for participants is to write their trade test and obtain industry-recognised certification.

Notably, these youngsters are not paid, but they are supported with transport fees, and anyone who wishes to be part of the program is welcome to join.

In addition to the skills development programme, the team also hosts a feeding scheme every weekday from 18:00, providing a vital service to the community.

“We encourage community members to come with their containers to enjoy a warm and nutritious meal with us. This is our way of empowering the community we serve,” Nicolette said.

If you’re interested in joining the skills development programme, you can contact them at 066 274 6317 or email nicky@floridapanelbeaters.co.za.
