Albion juniors fly the flag high

Albion's junior soccer teams are proving they're every bit as determined as the 'big teams'.

Albion’s U9s took part in an epic clash against Panorama Football Club on Saturday, June 7 as part of the Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) Little League.

Looking good in their striking bright blue away kit, the little Albions took to the field with gusto, which was to be replaced with pure determination as they soon found themselves 2–0 down.

According to the coach, Caleb Pomone, all credit goes to the young players as they refused to let the seemingly insurmountable odds get them down.

“Instead of sulking, they regrouped and fought back,” he says.

“The game ended with the gap closed at 2–2. We are all very proud of them for not giving up, and fighting hard until the last whistle.”

On Sunday, June 8, Albion’s U.12 participated in a friendly match against Los Blancos.

Los Blancos is a football academy launched in South Africa through a partnership between Real Madrid and Generation Schools.

“Obviously playing against a team like this represents a significant physical challenge,” says Pomone.

“Our boys held their own and never gave up, giving their all from start to finish.”

The match ended in a 3-1 loss, but there were plenty of positives to take from the performance.

“Our players put in a great effort and showed excellent attitude. We are proud of them.”
