Roodepoort police tops children’s day with special visit
Children were treated to an extra-special career day when the police came to visit.
Roodepoort police paid a friendly visit to Child Wise Wilro Park on Friday, June 20.
According to Roodepoort Social Crime Unit’s Warrant Officer Juliet Mogale, the visit coincided with the school’s careers day, and children were encouraged to dress according to what they wanted to become one day.

“It was such fun to see the children dressed up as doctors, police officers, astronauts, fire fighters, and even as teachers,” says Mogale.
“We taught the children many safety measures, including not to talk to strangers, or to let anyone touch them inappropriately.”
The school’s owner, Hannie Cronje, having almost as much fun as the children, says it is important for the school to ensure their children know how to conduct themselves in emergencies.
“They were taught the numbers to call should they require assistance from the police, and they learned a fun educational song about what no one should ever touch on their bodies.
“It was a wonderful experience,” she concludes.
School principal Samantha Main adds that the children especially enjoyed the various demonstrations.

“They were fascinated by the sirens and the vehicles,” she says.
Demonstrations included a dog show by the Tame the Beast dog training school, which played out several scenarios with their highly trained Belgian Malinois dogs, including a purse snatching, and the sniffing out of a hidden trainer.

Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch also held a demonstration of their dedicated fire truck.
