Taxi overturns in three-vehicle collision at Poortview intersection

Traffic delays as emergency services respond to crash.

Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection of Doreen Road and Hendrik Potgieter after a three-vehicle collision involving a taxi, a bakkie and a Toyota Corolla.

Eyewitnesses said the taxi, travelling from the Clearwater Mall side at high speed, went over the traffic island and collided with the front of a bakkie heading down Doreen Road.

The taxi then struck a Toyota Corolla on the passenger and rear passenger sides as it approached the intersection, before landing on its side with its windscreen shattered.

Paramedics on the scene confirmed there were no fatalities. The taxi driver and several passengers sustained minor injuries. They were treated on site and taken to hospital for further care.

Traffic remains heavily congested while emergency services clear the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
