Florida resident found murdered
The body was discovered with gunshot wounds to the back and head.
The body of a Florida man, John David Jackson, was discovered with two gunshot wounds in a cemetery in Kliptown, a day after he was reported missing.
Jackson left his home on November 28 to attend a work function and never returned home.
His family reported him missing after they discovered his car, with valuables including his wallet and laptop still in it, a few metres from his house the next day.
There was no sign of Jackson.
According to Florida Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson Farhaad Sardiwalla, the CPF, in conjunction with the Florida police, immediately put out a community notice to the public, security, and CPF partners in adjacent regions.
“We received a call on Sunday evening [November 30] from a patroller, who told us they had discovered a body in the Kliptown Cemetery, that resembled our missing victim.
“Further investigation revealed it was indeed the same person.
“He was found with a gunshot wound to his back and one to his head.
“Both his cellphone and car keys are still missing.”
Lieutenant Colonel Sipho Dlamini from Florida Police Station confirmed that the deceased was indeed the missing Florida resident, but referred the Roodepoort Record to the provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, who has not responded to the Record’s enquiries at the time of publication.
