Murder for hire case postponed

The four suspects arrested for the murder of Lerato Tefo are expected to apply for bail later in April.

The fourth suspect and alleged mastermind behind the murder of Lerato Tefo, who was shot dead while sitting in traffic on Corlett Avenue in December, appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 30.

The woman, who was arrested by police in Rivonia on March 6, appeared alongside the other three suspects in the case, who were previously denied bail.

All four will remain in custody until their next appearance on April 21, where they are expected to apply for bail.

The suspect has, through her legal representative, indicated that she would oppose proceedings being covered in the media.

She is accused of masterminding the murder-for-hire plot that saw Tefo being shot point-blank through her closed car window.

Monday saw a large contingent of the Tefo family, as well as a group of supporters present at court.

It has also emerged that a petition has been started to plead with the court not to grant bail to the suspects.
