Stolen Honeydew vehicle recovered; 3 suspects arrested

The Johannesburg Flying Squad recovered the vehicle during a swift operation in Alexandra.

The Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested three suspects aged between 23 and 30 after a stolen vehicle linked to a robbery in the Honeydew policing precinct was recovered in Alexandra on Tuesday, June 2.

According to Johannesburg Flying Squad spokesperson Raymond Sambo, their members were following up on information related to a house robbery that had occurred within the Edenvale policing precinct. During the operation, officers traced a red Volkswagen Polo to the corner of Bushy More Street in River Park, Alexandra.

“Upon locating the vehicle, three occupants were found inside. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of housebreaking implements. Further investigation revealed that the Volkswagen Polo had been reported stolen during a robbery in the Honeydew policing precinct,” said Sambo.

He said the three suspects were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, possession of housebreaking implements, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The suspects were detained at Sandringham Police Station, where further investigations are underway. The recovered vehicle was booked into the police pound for safekeeping and further processing.

Sambo confirmed that the suspects are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court soon.
