Vigilant security officer nabs Allen's Nek vet burglar

A security company, in collaboration with the police, apprehended a man linked to the Allen's Nek Vet burglary.

A suspect linked to a recent burglary at Allen’s Nek Veterinary Clinic was arrested on June 21 following the vigilance of response officers patrolling the Weltevreden Park area.

According to Beagle Watch’s operations manager, Cobus Botes, at about 13:17, response officer Vincent Ledwaba was conducting routine patrols when he noticed a man behaving suspiciously near dustbins at the corner of Tamarisk and Kastaiing Street.

“Ledwaba recognised the individual from previously circulated security footage relating to a break-in at the vet, which occurred on June 20,” said Botes.

Upon identifying the suspect, Ledwaba requested back-up. Response officer Avhurengwi Ndou arrived on the scene, and together the officers successfully apprehended the individual without incident.

The police were contacted, and Sergeant Morudu of Honeydew police responded to the scene and formally arrested the suspect, who was transported to the police station for further processing.
