Road reopens after crime scene investigation

The fatal incident caused major traffic delays, with motorists urged to avoid the area while authorities processed the scene.

Motorists travelling along Nic Diederichs Road on Wednesday afternoon, July 1, experienced significant delays after a section of the road was closed while police attended to a crime scene.

The closure affected Nic Diederichs Road between Florin and Vintage streets, preventing vehicles from travelling towards Retail Crossing. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes while police processed the scene.

According to Honeydew CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn, the road remained closed until about 21:00, when the scene was cleared, and traffic was allowed to resume.

Steyn said no further information about the incident could be released at this stage.

He also appealed to residents not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the incident or share unverified information on social media.

“We kindly ask residents not to speculate or spread unverified information out of respect for the family as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” said Steyn.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been made public, and the identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of publication.
