Water crisis: Be part of the solution

Leading authority on water issues, Dr Ferrial Adam, will be speaking at the meeting tonight.

The current water crisis in Florida, which seems likely to become worse before it gets any better, is one of the hot topics that will be under discussion at Florida Block Watch’s (FBW) community meeting on September 16.

“We’ve already seen Florida and surrounding suburbs affected by the widespread water infrastructure problems, so we decided to call on some of the foremost experts in the country to come and enlighten us on the real situation and what can be done to avert disaster,” says FBW chairperson, John Kirsten.

The meeting will feature all the regular topics, including crime and the FBW’s many community projects.

Special guests Dr Ferial Adam, executive director of WaterCAN, and Dr Lesego Loate, from the Society, Work and Politics (SWOP) Institute at Wits University, will be sharing insights on the causes, extent, and possible solutions to the water crisis that is gripping Johannesburg.

“We invite the whole community to come and be part of the solution,” adds Kirsten.

The FBW community meeting will take place tonight, September 16, at Hoërskool Florida, at 18:30.
