Panorama streets beautified

The makeover transformed the area from messy streets to a source of community pride.

The Panorama@Work team spent the past weekend, January 17–18, keeping the neighbourhood clean and safe, as volunteers cut and cleared areas with overgrown grass to improve visibility and accessibility for residents.

The team worked along 9th Avenue, Albert, Theunis, and Lemoendoring streets. On Theunis Street, they cleared the area around the Panorama Switching Station, while on Lemoendoring, they tackled the corner near Sewetjie to make it safer for motorists exiting the street.

According to the Panorama Residents Association (PRA) deputy chairperson, Michael Steyn, these improvements help reduce risks for drivers and pedestrians alike, while also making the streets look tidy and welcoming.

This effort follows previous cleanups by the team, including work on Theunis and Albert streets, the Panorama substation, and several overgrown areas in streets such as Rooisering, JG Strydom and Springhaas. Each clean-up has made a visible difference in keeping Panorama well-maintained and safer for everyone.

The Panorama@Work team is made up of volunteers who are part of the PRA. These dedicated residents give their time and energy to maintain the neighbourhood by cutting grass, clearing weeds, and cleaning public spaces.

“Our volunteers work hard to make sure every corner of Panorama is safe and well-kept. It’s amazing what a difference a few hours of community effort can make,” Michael said.

The team uses contributions from members of the RA who pay a R250 membership fee per year to fund the work that they do.

“The support from our members is what keeps us going. Their contributions allow us to purchase tools, equipment, and materials needed for these cleanups. Every member plays an important role in helping make Panorama a better place to live,” he added.

Current members are encouraged to renew their subscriptions.

“New members are warmly welcomed to join and take part in the ongoing effort to make Panorama cleaner, safer, and more attractive,” Michael expressed.

Residents who would like to find out how they can get involved or learn more about joining the PRA can email info@panoramara.co.za or WhatsApp 084 496 3852.
