Community clean-up drive transforms Zandspruit and Honeydew

A non-profit organisation hosts a clean-up campaign to restore communities.

A sustained community clean-up campaign led by the Soulbent Project is making a visible impact across Zandspruit, Honeydew and surrounding areas as volunteers work to restore dignity to streets and public spaces.

According to Soulbent Project CEO Mashudu Makhado, teams of dedicated volunteers took to the streets on April 8 and focused on removing litter, clearing illegal dumping sites, and improving the overall environment.

“The initiative forms part of an ongoing effort to address waste management challenges and promote community pride. The commitment shown by participants highlighted the broader vision behind the campaign, Makhado expressed with a smile.

“Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to clean and restore our communities. Every bag of waste collected brings us closer to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all residents,” said Makhado.

The campaign emphasises collaboration between residents, volunteers, and partners, demonstrating the power of collective action in tackling persistent environmental issues such as illegal dumping. Organisers say the improvements are already noticeable, with cleaner streets and renewed community morale.

Makhado also expressed gratitude to everyone involved, noting that their continued support is key to sustaining the initiative’s impact.

“Your dedication is helping us protect the environment and inspire others to take pride in where they live,” he added.

With momentum building, the Soulbent Project remains committed to expanding its efforts and ensuring long-term change. Makhado believes the initiative is not only improving physical spaces but also fostering a stronger sense of responsibility and unity among residents.

As the campaign continues, organisers are confident that these communities are on a path toward lasting transformation – driven by local action and shared purpose.
