Water outages in northern suburbs due to valve maintenance

Many households are expected to face disruptions in their normal daily water supply while the maintenance work is carried out.

Residents in several suburbs in the area are expected to experience a planned water outage today, May 14, as Johannesburg Water carries out maintenance on the Weltevreden High Pressure By-Pass.

According to a statement released by Johannesburg Water, the maintenance is expected to continue until 16:00.

The planned work is being undertaken for pressure-reducing valve maintenance, aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a continued water supply in the future.

Areas expected to be affected include Allen’s Nek, Panorama AH, Little Falls, Strubens Valley, Radiokop, Radiokop AH, Poortview, Poortview AH, Ruimsig, Amorosa, Aanwins AH, Roodekrans 183-IQ, Willowbrook, and parts of Wilgeheuwel.

Johannesburg Water said all streets within the affected suburbs may experience no water supply during the maintenance period.

The utility added that details regarding the placement of water tankers would be communicated separately.

Residents are encouraged to store enough water for essential household use ahead of the shutdown and to use water sparingly once the supply has been restored, as pressure may take time to stabilise.

Johannesburg Water apologised for the inconvenience, saying the maintenance forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of the water network.

Service-related queries can be logged with Johannesburg Water on 0860 056 2874 or 011 688 1699, via email at fault@jwater.co.za, or through the utility’s social media platforms.
