311 suspects nabbed during special festive season operations

Police have confirmed that 311 suspects were arrested during special festive season operations across the Johannesburg West District.
From Friday, December 2 to Sunday December 4 police arrested 311 suspects from different parts of the district that include Roodepoort, Honeydew, Cosmo City, Linden, Douglasdale, Florida, Randburg and Diepsloot.
The members were performing their special operation duties and conducted stop and searches around the district.
The suspects were arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, rape, unlawful use or possession of drugs, common assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, housebreaking, shoplifting, malicious injury to property, driving while intoxicated, reckless and negligent driving, selling liquor without a license, dealing in drugs, possessing a dangerous weapon, illegal gambling, and drinking in public.
All of the suspects were detained at various police stations have been charged and will appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrate’s Courts soon.
