Ward 84 Councillor back from leave

"In this time, I had a chance to disconnect from an overly negative work environment, taking it as a self-introspection trip which opened up my mind to new insights and perspectives on approaching less pleasant situations in a more positive and focused mindset, and what a ride it was."

Ward 84 Councillor Johannes Goosen sent out a notice on Monday, January 9 to inform the residents of his ward that he is back in office after taking a break from his duties.

“After considerable time, today marks my return back in office since deciding to use the December month council recess period in taking my first mental break from work in a year. Despite not going far away during the festive season, I did manage to get some distance between myself and chaos that is the City of Joburg.

“In this time, I had a chance to disconnect from an overly negative work environment, taking it as a self-introspection trip which opened up my mind to new insights and perspectives on approaching less pleasant situations in a more positive and focused mindset, and what a ride it was.

“Having said all this, I now recommence in fulfilling my duties this new year, whilst also giving thanks to the PR Councillor colleague of mine, Councillor Susan Stewart, who proverbially stepped into my shoes for any and all emergencies during my absence,” said Goosen.

Goosen also encouraged residents to continue to use the city’s provided reporting mechanisms to log faults/tickets and follow up on them.
