Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene pitches tent in Horison park to spread the Easter message
Judd Street church gave a free screening of The Jesus Film for all who wished to hear.
All were embraced in the celebration of the Easter message of Christ.

The Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene used the Easter period to make the Lord’s Word more accessible to the public. The church set up a tent in the park along Mouton Road and gave free screenings of a film that chronicles the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Jesus Film Project is used throughout Africa as a way of spreading Christian teachings and anybody, resident, commuter, or pedestrian, was welcomed from 18:00, April 3 to 6.

The Easter weekend is a significant event on the Christian calendar, serving as the crux of the faith. Pastor Greg Baytopp chose an open field to create an environment that was free from boundaries or any imposing aura that may come with entering a church. Aided by neighbouring churches that supplied the tent, reading material, and refreshments, complete community involvement was assured.

“He lived as a normal human being but His life was perfect. The cross symbolises where He paid for our sins. With that sacrifice He gave us a future from then until eternity,” said Pastor Greg, about the Messiah.
Preparing the field for a family event meant several clean-up operations which highlighted to the congregation the difficult times faced by the community. By bringing the message of Christ to a field for all, it has the potential to be projected outward as a force of hope and goodwill.
