The spirit of giving embraced at Panorama Primary School’s week-long Christmas in July

Panorama Primary School teaches valuable lessons in a fun and engaging setting.

It was snowing the spirit of charity for a full week at Panorama Primary School.

The Christmas cheer and the essence of giving filled the school halls for the second week of the third term. Teachers spent the Sunday before decorating the school so that the learners arrived at a winter wonderland on the first day of the week-long festival. Each day of the week came with a different theme, including a snowman, Santa Day, and even a Christmas pajama day, ending with a Friday where all learners were encouraged to dress like a Christmas tree.

The Christmas in July week would run parallel with the final days of a charity drive which the school began before the holidays. The learners focused on collecting either an assortment of baby products, dry and canned food, or household cleaning products which would go to a charity of Panorama Primary’s choice. As well as daily prizes for the best dressed, the class which collect the most was given the winner’s prize on the final day.

Co-ordinator of the school’s charity events, Leigh Todd said, “What an eventful week it was. The school was decorated with trees and tinsel, a sleigh, and all the bells and whistles including fake snow. This was our first fundraiser of its kind; a week of festivity, fun and excitement. Not only was the week a success, but it created such a positive vibe among learners and staff alike. Most definitely a tradition that Panorama will continue for years to come!”

Principal Olive Siminya praised the spirit of both the learners and the teachers, noting how the energy and enthusiasm could be felt throughout the school for the entire week. Hoping the positivity would last into the coming weeks, Siminiya said, “It is very important for the learners to look at life from a different perspective. This is a special way for them to learn to look around and look after those around them.”
