Food and fun fundraising festival a success!

The church organised a successful fundraising event featuring local and international food stalls, a children's entertainment arena, and live music for families, friends, and parishioners.

A day of international food and fun at St John The Apostolic Catholic Church on August 27 saw festival lovers from all walks of life attending the church’s first festival after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fundraising event, which has been running for about 25 years now, opened its doors to families, friends, and parishioners for a day of live music, children’s entertainment, talent shows and more.

The festival accommodated various stalls; local and international food, arts and crafts, entertainment hubs such as the jumping castle arena, and face painting activities.

The Roodepoort Record interviewed two international food stall owners, Zuvarashe Nyamupa and Chidinma Acholonu, who are also parishioners of the church who discussed traditional Zimbabwean and Nigerian food which included ‘road runner’ and ‘fried turkey’ dishes.

The church’s women’s league – a charity organisation involved in various charities in and outside of the church – offered tea and cakes for senior citizens, and according to Bronwin Hendricks, the chairperson of the committee, they were extremely excited about the turn-up of people.
