Women’s group works together to assist baby sanctuary
A women's circle and a local sanctuary tagged together to bring about relief this winter.
The Northridge Ladies 7 Circle, in collaboration with Ruimsig Shopping Centre, hosted a R5 project on July 1 to help Just in Time Baby Sanctuary with nutritious groceries.
According to the circle’s treasurer, Sue-Mari Warren, the sanctuary is a safe, loving and nurturing haven for abandoned and abused babies.
This collection drive provided the sanctuary with much-needed nutritious food that the house mother could not afford to purchase alone.

Donations to the value of over R5 000 were collected and monetary donations from various people, amounting to R1 200 were also made. Surprisingly, the sanctuary received a R1 000 donation from an anonymous individual.
The circle still finds itself working hard to get financial support from residents to make a difference in their community and, respectively, assist orphanages and old age centres. Their primary objective is to provide homeless individuals with dignity by using volunteer support to help them feel important and welcomed rather than disregarded and abandoned.

“The purpose and aim of this initiative were to help during winter with food for the babies at the sanctuary,” said Sue-Mari.
In this R5 project, both involved parties managed to put a smile on nine little ones’ faces. The circle is expected to have another food drive to help St Laurence Children’s Home on July 13.
The circle urges individuals to contact them via email at warrensuemari@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp to 061 27 2653 at any time for donations and invites individuals to attend their donation drives.
