Learner starts charity organisation

Hoërskool Roodepoort head boy Sanay Ramsammy started a charity foundation called Everyday Kindness.

Driven by his passion to make a difference in the community, the head boy of Hoërskool Roodepoort, Sanay Ramsammy, has started his own charity organisation called Everyday Kindness.

The matric learner says the inspiration behind starting Everyday Kindness came from his experience with the school’s community council project called Amore.

“I was the president of Amore since Grade Eight; however, I had to resign this year because I was elected to be head boy of the school, and I had to focus on matric.

“Being part of Amore sparked my passion for helping others and showed me the power of community and compassion. It was through that experience that I realised the impact we can make when we come together to support those in need.

“As time went by, I realised there was a part of me missing, and that’s when I started my foundation. Everyday Kindness is my way of continuing that journey and spreading kindness in every corner we can reach,” said Sanay during an interview with the Roodepoort Record.

The foundation aims to tackle and be of help to anyone in need in society, including alleviating hunger, working with orphanages and animal shelters, and providing education, health and dignity.

“Our mission is to empower, support, and uplift all people in our country.”

Despite being established just this year, Sanay’s foundation has already made a significant impact in the community, having completed projects, including one on Human Rights Day. With ambitious plans for the future, the foundation is set to undertake more substantial initiatives, including a notable project on Mandela Day, and its overall vision for the foundation is that it extend beyond local borders.

“Another important aspect of the foundation is spreading kindness throughout and promoting the culture of kindness by inspiring individuals to engage in small, meaningful acts of generosity.”

The foundation is also looking for volunteers who can be of assistance to the foundation, and also donations of usable items like books, blankets, clothing, and shoes. For more information, contact Sanay on 074 549 7088 or follow Everyday Kindness on Instagram (@Everyday__Kindness_).
