Officer awarded for exceptional service
Captain Michael Erasmus stood as the sole duty officer for two full weeks while also managing the entire detectives' office.
The Honeydew Community Police Forum (CPF) made good use of the opportunity to dole out praise where it’s due at their recent sector two community engagement.
According to CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn, the CPF, from time to time, bestows a prize on a deserving police officer or unit for exceptional service rendered to the community.
“The Goodwill Shield is only awarded to those police officers who go over and beyond the call of duty to serve their communities,” says Steyn. “Officers are nominated for the award by Honeydew station management, whereafter the CPF executive determines the winners.
“In addition to recognising the hard work and dedication of the recipients, we hope to inspire other police officers through this gesture.”
This month’s prize goes to an officer who has shown exceptional dedication to the station and to the public they serve, by voluntarily serving as duty officer for a full two weeks while also managing the entire detectives’ office – a duty normally shed by several senior staff members.
“Captain Michael Erasmus showed exceptional commitment by taking on this mammoth task and making a success of it to boot.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Captain Erasmus for his unwavering commitment and service to the Honeydew community. Your efforts do not go unnoticed,” said Steyn while handing over the award to a beaming Erasmus.
