Community and family remember Norman Sibanda’s legacy of kindness
A tribute to a life well-lived, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
Norman Sibanda earned the trust and respect of his coworkers and the broader community through his tireless work ethic, quiet strength and generous spirit.
His sudden death in a hit-and-run incident on June 27 has left a void both on the farm and within the community.
Sibanda was killed near his home, shocking his family and colleagues. To help return his remains to Zimbabwe, neighbour Bronwyn Kloppers launched a BackaBuddy campaign to raise the R40 879 needed for repatriation.

“His legacy endures through the many lives he touched and the memories he left behind. His life was a testament to compassion, diligence and commitment. He began each day with an open heart, ready to face any task. His contagious smile lifted even the darkest days, and his love for animals and farm life was only surpassed by his love for his family,” said his employer, Michelle Stewart.
She described him as a generous soul who grew his own vegetables and delivered them by hand to elderly neighbours, bringing joy and comfort to everyone he met.
“Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on – encouraging those close to him to live with the same passion, generosity and love that he embodied.”

Sibanda’s older brother, Zazini Dumisani Sibanda, said Norman’s greatest wish was for his family to be happy, and he remained cheerful regardless of life’s circumstances.
Reflecting on their childhood, he said, “Norman always valued respect and never took advantage of people in any situation.”
He also spoke about how the loss has impacted the family.
“We did not expect his passing so soon, and we have not received answers from the police,” he said.
He concluded by sharing the most important lessons he learnt from his brother: “Respect and love.”
Despite the devastating loss, Norman Sibanda’s legacy continues to inspire those who knew him – to live with the same compassion, dedication and love that defined his life.
