Girl (14) killed in Horison quad bike accident

Police are investigating the cause of the quad bike accident in which a 14-year-old girl was killed.

A 14-year-old girl was tragically killed on Saturday, August 9 at the intersection of Swart Avenue and Andries Bruyn Street.

According to JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla, officers were alerted to the accident and responded.

“The incident involved two vehicles; a white BMW with two occupants and a white Suzuki quad bike with a rider and a passenger,” he says.

“The 14-year-old girl, who was the passenger on the quad bike, was declared deceased at the scene.

“The driver of the quad bike sustained serious injuries and was taken to Life Flora Hospital, while the driver and passenger from the BMW were taken to Krugersdorp Private Hospital with slight injuries.”

Fihla adds that the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

“A case of culpable homicide will be opened with the Roodepoort police for further investigation.”
