Pharmacy hosts Women’s Day focused services on health and well-being

The day offered free pap smears, HPV screening and educational talks on breastfeeding.

The Wilrogate Local Choice Pharmacy hosted a thoughtfully curated Women’s Day event from August 15 to August 18, prioritising the health and well-being of women in the community.

The event offered a range of valuable services, including free pap smears, breast screenings, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) testing, and a special breastfeeding talk in celebration of breastfeeding week.

According to clinic sister Sinenhlanhla Kunene, the event aimed to educate and support women about their reproductive health.

“Many women lack awareness about their reproductive system, which is why we wanted to provide them with essential information and resources,” she explained.

The pap smear screenings focused on detecting reproductive viruses that can cause cancers linked to HPV, and participants received prevention tips and access to the HPV vaccine.

The event also offered complimentary consultations for glucose and cholesterol level checks, culminating in a thoughtful goodie bag for each attendee.

Another event is scheduled for today, August 22, at the Florida Local Choice Pharmacy. Women in the community are invited to attend and benefit from the health screenings and educational sessions.
