MSA turns ladies into legends

Wisdom met ambition as the experts lit the way for the future leaders.

Sixty-four students attended the annual IIE MSA Ladies to Legends event, aiming to not only empower and inspire but to leave a lasting impact on every attendee.

This was the case for Azanathi Genu, a second-year Bachelor of Laws student, who said, “Ladies to Legends reminded me of the powerful lineage of women that raised me, from my great-grandmother to my mother. I was especially inspired by Sithisa, who emphasised the power of our habits and how our choices can shape our future. I left with a renewed commitment to authenticity, purpose, and sisterhood.”

The event, held on August 27 to celebrate Women’s Month, had a panel of accomplished women who shared their expertise on career growth, resilience, leadership, and personal development with the attendees.

Boitumelo Phetlhu, the event MC, a business science honours student and 2024 president of the MSA Voice Committee, industrial psychologist Sithisa Magxwalisa-Myeko, head of finance at the Ombud Council and member of CFO South Africa, Devrani Moonsamy, and Captain Karen Jacobs from SAPS were all the esteemed guests at the event, and each speaker brought a unique perspective.

Moonsamy highlighted the importance of financial literacy and strong leadership skills, while Magxwalisa-Myeko spoke about workplace wellness, career growth, and the role of habits in shaping success. Jacobs encouraged students to build resilience, prioritise safety, and develop confidence as future leaders.

Through this engaging dialogue, students walked away with practical guidance and motivation to pursue careers of impact while embracing opportunities for leadership and personal growth.
