Santa visits Horison

Santa Claus paid a special visit to Horison, driving through the area for three nights, handing out toys and sweets.

Horison Block Watch conducted their annual Christmas run over the past weekend, accompanying Santa Claus on a three-night tour throughout the area to hand out presents and sweets to children.

According to organiser Yolandi Bawden, this is the 10th year that the block watch has undertaken its annual tour with Santa, and the event is going from strength to strength.

“It is amazing to see how generously local businesses and the block watch community support this initiative,” she says.

“It really makes such a big difference for the children.”

Over the three nights, residents along the respective routes line the streets in anticipation of the long procession of police, security, and block watch vehicles with lights flashing and hooters blaring, escorting Santa and his elves on his brilliantly-lit ‘slay’ as he pays visits to and hands out sweets and presents to children along the way.

“On Saturday night, one of our stops was at the St Lawrence Children’s Haven, where Santa is enthusiastically received every year,” she adds.

“This year, Santa invited a special guest in the form of the Grinch in an attempt to convince the eternally grumpy creature that Christmas is a wonderful time for everyone.”
