Swim school donates wetsuits to support water safety

The school donated to the West Rand K9 Unit and rescue team, which will help in their crucial work in the community.

To promote water safety and prevent drownings this festive season, Little Munkis Swim School donated wetsuits to the West Rand K9 Unit.

The donation was warmly received by liaison officer Warrant Officer Reinier Henning.

According to the founder of the swim school, Shane Maitland, the donated wetsuits will enable Reinier’s team to continue their selfless work, providing essential support to those affected by flooding and helping to prevent drownings in the community.

“We believe that giving back to the community is an essential part of our mission,” said Shane. “Our primary goal is to prevent drownings and promote water safety, and we’re proud to support initiatives that align with this vision.”

Little Munkis was founded in 2018 by Shane in memory of a beloved family member who tragically lost their life due to drowning. Since then, the school has been dedicated to preventing drownings and promoting water safety in the community.

Through organisations like the Florida Lake Canoe Club, the swim school offers free swimming lessons every Saturday to underprivileged children, empowering them with life-saving skills.

“Community involvement is of utmost importance, as it has a far-reaching impact on all those involved within the community and those who are affected and impacted by such initiatives.

“It is our responsibility, and we take great pride in being able to give back in any way possible. Little Munki’s Swim School is humbled by every opportunity we have to help others and give back,” he concluded.
