The suspects opened fire on police, prompting a shootout

Two suspects were shot dead during a shootout with police on Wednesday, December 17, at around 18:10 in Stormill.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, police officers were on patrol in the area when they noticed two males acting suspiciously.

“When officers attempted to stop the suspects, they opened fire, prompting a shootout. Both suspects were fatally wounded and a firearm was recovered.”

Sibeko adds that further investigation at the scene revealed that the suspects were involved in a business robbery at a local company.

“Police have opened a case of business robbery, two counts of attempted murder, and two counts of murder. An investigation is underway.”
