Delivery motorbike crash sends two riders to hospital in Strubens Valley
Two delivery motorcyclists collided after one rider rode in the oncoming traffic lane.

Two delivery motorcyclists were taken to the hospital following a collision at the busy intersection of Hendrik Potgieter and Krugerrand roads on Tuesday evening, January 20.
The accident occurred at about 20:52 and involved two delivery motorbikes. According to BCI Security chief communications officer Paul Catlett, the incident was detected in real time through BCI Security’s CCTV monitoring network, where Civil Crime Intelligence Network (CCIN) West Rand control room operators observed the collision.
“Our junior Quick Reaction Force (QRF) Operations team was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide support while emergency services were en route,” said Catlett.

“Help24 EMS arrived shortly thereafter and attended to both riders. After receiving on-scene treatment, the two drivers were transported to Helen Joseph Hospital in a single ambulance for further medical care,” he added.
BCI Security confirmed to the Roodepoort Northsider that the collision was head-on and occurred after one of the riders allegedly travelled in an oncoming lane.
Catlett said the incident highlights the growing risks associated with distracted driving among delivery motorcyclists, particularly during busy evening periods.
“Our proactive monitoring once again demonstrated the value of an integrated CCTV and rapid-response system, ensuring that help was mobilised without delay,” he said.
BCI Security reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities through vigilant surveillance, rapid response and strong partnerships with emergency and law enforcement services.
