Laerskool Die Ruiter announces 2026 head leaders

The prefects play an important role is guiding and assisting with multiple duties at the school.

Laerskool Die Ruiter proudly announced its 2026 head leaders during a school assembly on March 9.

Suzette Louw, the school’s spokesperson, highlighted the learners’ impressive qualities, noting that each possesses strong leadership skills and is well-rounded, excelling not only in academics but also in sports and other extracurricular activities.

“The head of leaders was chosen through a school leadership camp, and the selection process involved teachers and the School Management Team (SMT), all working together to identify the most suitable candidates,” Suzette explained.

Kamohelo Thelejane is the head girl and will be supported by deputy head girl Caitlin Eland.

On the boys’ side, Josiah Harichund was named head boy with Daniel Nkhoma appointed as deputy head boy.

Speaking during an interview with the Roodepoort Record, the learners expressed their excitement to lead the school with wisdom, compassion and care.

Kamohelo said she felt nervous and excited upon announcing it.

“My role involves overseeing the leadership group and ensuring they fulfil their duties,” she explained.

Josiah, who has worked towards this position for seven years, is eager to guide and set an example for the younger learners.

“I can’t wait to help and guide the little ones and be an example to them,” he said.

Caitlin, following in her sister’s footsteps, is determined to improve the school in all aspects.

Daniel’s goal is to get the school in order.

The school management wished the newly appointed head leaders well as they prepare to take on their responsibilities.
