Pageant finalists uplift the elderly
Elderly residents from the Roodepoort Sentrum Vir Berjaardes received a visit from Hoerskool Roodepoort learners and the Everyday Kindness Foundation.
Residents of Roodepoort Sentrum Vir Berjaardes were treated to a visit by the Everyday Kindness Foundation in partnership with Mr and Miss Roodie finalists.
The residents were treated to a delightful morning, enjoying muffins and coffee while being serenaded by soulful music and poignant poetry performances.
The teams also showed their appreciation by donating books and magazines, and even stocked the residents’ goody bags with cookies and snacks.

As the event unfolded, warm interactions and lively chats took place between the learners and the residents.
According to Janelle Klaver, a teacher from Hoërskool Roodepoort, the day forms part of their initiative to give back to the community.
Sanay Ramsammy, the founder of Everyday Kindness, added that it means a lot for them to seek the wisdom and spend time with the people who ran so they could walk.

The foundation aims to tackle and be of help to anyone in need in society, including alleviating hunger, working with orphanages and animal shelters, and providing education, health, and dignity.

“We have a lot of projects coming up this year, including the Easter drive where we are collecting children’s books, toiletries, and Easter eggs for orphanages,” he said, adding that they will also be working with the SPCA this year.
