Police urge residents to collect firearm licenses

Florida police say they have a growing pile of uncollected firearm licenses.

Florida police’s Firearms, Liquor, and Second-hand Goods (Flash) Unit has urged community members who have applied for firearm licences and not received them yet, to make contact with police.

According to the acting commander of Florida Flash, Sergeant TK Motsoane, the amount of uncollected firearm licenses at the station is significant.

“We are receiving firearm licenses on an ongoing basis,” he says. “When we receive the licenses, they are captured on our system, and an SMS is automatically sent to the applicant.

“Unfortunately, the response has been underwhelming thus far, resulting in a large number of uncollected licenses.”

Motsoane adds that some of the licenses have been uncollected at the station dating as far back as 2023.

“We urge people to make contact with the Flash office to find out whether their licenses have arrived.

“Residents can either call or pay us a visit at the station.”
