Join Warriors with a Purpose’s cancer awareness event

Community members, health care professionals and cancer survivors are encouraged to attend this event.

The Warriors with a Purpose (WWAP) organisation is inviting community members and exhibitors for a special cancer awareness and community event on Saturday, March 28, at Hoërskool President, 102 Rifle Range Road, Ridgeway.

Although World Cancer Day is commemorated globally on February 4, this event aims to extend the awareness campaign locally by bringing together survivors, patients, healthcare professionals, and community members to share knowledge, hope, and support.

According to the founder of the organisation, Renne Ney Singh, the event will focus on cancer education, early detection awareness, survivor stories, and community empowerment, highlighting the importance of addressing all types of cancer.

The programme will also feature guest speakers, cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, and advocates, who will share their experiences and expertise with attendees.

Ney is a breast cancer survivor herself and has recently been diagnosed with a new cancer called invasive pleomorphic lobular carcinoma. She is also a global cancer advocate and member of the Union for International Cancer Control.

“Cancer does not only affect the individual diagnosed; it affects families, communities, and generations. Through our organisation, we aim to create spaces where people can learn, find support, and realise that they are not alone in their journey,” she said.

The awareness day is expected to attract the communities at large, cancer survivors, patients currently undergoing treatment, caregivers, medical professionals, community leaders, and members of the public who wish to stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer globally.
